Beetroot, Pomegranate, Kale, Spinach, Broccoli & Celery Powder: Common Questions Answered

We get asked the same handful of questions about these powders, so here are straight, simple answers — no hype, no health claims, just what they're made of and how to use them.

Is Beetroot Powder the Same as Fresh Beetroot or Beet Juice?

Our Beetroot Powder starts as real beets. They are dried and ground into a fine powder — nothing is added and nothing is taken away except the water. A spoonful of powder comes from a much larger amount of fresh beetroot, so it's a quick way to add real beetroot to a recipe without peeling, chopping or juicing. The main difference from beet juice is that juice has the pulp strained out, while our powder keeps the whole beet, just dried and ground into a fine powder. Stir it into batters, doughs, or drinks for a natural deep-pink colour and earthy beetroot flavour.

What's Pomegranate Powder Made From, and How Do I Use It?

Our Pomegranate Powder is made from real pomegranate, freeze-dried and ground into a fine powder — nothing else added. It's packed and sold as a food ingredient, so it's best used the way you'd use any fruit powder: stirred into smoothies, yoghurt, baking, or sprinkled over breakfast, for a tart, deep-red flavour and colour. If you've seen pomegranate mentioned for other household uses, that's not what our product is made or tested for — treat it purely as a kitchen ingredient.

Is Kale Powder the Same as Fresh Kale?

Yes, just without the water. We freeze-dry the kale rather than cooking or heat-drying it, so it stays as close as possible to the fresh leaf, just with the water gently removed. A spoonful of powder comes from a much bigger pile of fresh kale leaves, so it saves you the washing, chopping, and tough chewing that comes with raw kale. Stir it into smoothies, soups, or baking whenever you want to add kale to a recipe without the prep.

What's the Easiest Way to Use Spinach Powder in a Smoothie?

Just add a spoonful straight into the blender. Unlike whole spinach leaves, the powder has no stringy bits and barely changes the flavour of a smoothie — mostly it adds a green colour. It works the same way stirred into soups, sauces, or bread dough, if you'd rather add spinach to a recipe without washing and blending fresh leaves.

What's Actually in a Bag of Broccoli Powder?

Just broccoli. We freeze-dry whole, mature broccoli and grind it into a fine powder, with nothing added and nothing cooked out except the water. It's a simple way to bring the colour and flavour of broccoli into a recipe — bread, crackers, dips, or savoury baking — without buying, washing, and chopping fresh broccoli each time. We keep the ingredients list to one item: broccoli.

Is Celery Powder the Same as Celery Juice?

Not quite — they're made differently. Juice is the liquid squeezed from celery stalks, with the pulp strained out. Our Celery Powder is the whole vegetable, freeze-dried and ground, so nothing is strained away — it's simply more concentrated because the water is gone. A small spoonful stirred into water or a recipe gives you the flavour of celery without stalks, a juicer, or morning prep. It's a different product to celery juice, not a direct swap, so it comes down to which format suits how you cook or drink it.
