An intense deep-green powder; a little goes a long way for colour.

• Smoothies: start with ½ teaspoon; the flavour is strong and sea-like.
• Colour: tints pasta, dips and raw desserts green-blue.
• Manufacturing: blends into dry mixes and bars.

Keep it airtight and bone-dry. Spirulina powder is fine and absorbent, so any humidity will make it clump.

Keep it in a dark cupboard: light dulls the green.

• Use a completely dry spoon.
• Press the air out and reseal straight after use.
• Unopened: room temperature, away from heat and light. See the best-before date on the bag.
• After opening: decant a working quantity and keep the main bag sealed; use within a week.
